Ruby's Baptism
On April 2nd, we had an intimate gathering at our home to baptize Ruby. We wanted to baptize her out of obedience to God and to declare to her and the world that we want to love as Jesus loves.
It was such a lovely, meaningful morning. Some highlights include:


Wearing Great-Grandma Ruby's baptismal gown (from the late 1800's). Hand-stiched and beautiful! So special. Grandma Rub's picture below:

Having the ceremony in our home. Made it very personal. Especially when our dear friend (and pastor at our church, Upper Room) Joe McDonald performed the baptism...with water that Dave got from the Jordan River in Isreal (the same river that Jesus was baptized in) when he was there in college with his choir. He brought it
(ps...Ruby totally spit up all over Joe during his prayer!)

Everyone read Ephesians 3:14-21 to Ruby together (pretty much sums it up):


" 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
