Finger Lickin' Good

Oscar's going to hate me someday for posting this. But it's too good.

Like any good car owner, you need to check out the vehicle before taking it out for a drive:

Look at it from afar...

...give it a once-over for dents...

...check out the wheels...

...Make sure the horn works...

...the door works...

...the seats are comfortable...

but, most importantly, that there's GAS in the tank!

Pickle Fairy!

Oscar and I went to a nearby neighborhood fall-fest and he was visited by the magical Pickle Fairy who game him a humongo pickle. He enjoyed every bite. :)

Mantle-scape

I like decorating our mantle (newly refinished) and I was particularly proud of this one. Doesn't help that I adore all things autumnal.

So STOOP-endous!

2 Weeks Away: Back Home

After a long, wonderful, exhausting, relaxing, cozy vacation, we got back home safe and sound. LUCKILY we just happened to get two seats to ourselves on both flights which was a life-saver for a wiggly little boy and his tired mommy.

PLUS--he took his first official steps alone while on layover from Milwaukee to Minnesota. He was THAT excited to be off the plane! (video of walking to come)

The house was like new again with Oscar climbing and re-exploring his old haunts. And, we had to find a spot to store his first pair of shoes he got while on vacation. Awww.

2 Weeks Away: Maine

A little side-trip to Portland, Maine to see my sister-in-law-in-law (aka: my sister-in-law's sister) and her hubby (and my good friends) Laura and Mike. We had a great time walking the cobblestone streets and eating ice cream.

Oscar pointed to the ocean and signed "water"--he's so smart!

He also is a sucker for a good lobster costume!

2 Weeks Away: Boston! (more)

We had such a good time.
I gave Katie a quite-late birthday present of a homemade skirt (see below).

We also tried a few new recipes (especially this pine-nut lemon custard tart) and hosted a "tea" on Saturday.

Oscar also loved to "perch" like a pelican on their heater so he could look out the window.

2 Weeks Away: Boston!

Welcome to Boston! And welcome to my dear friends Katie & Tommy's house.

They have done a ton of work on their home...most recently updating their kitchen.

And, I got gourmet treatment. Like a delicious cappuccino from my favorite barista!

And, Oscar just LOVED their cat, Moxie. I think Moxie enjoyed playing "hide & seek" with him, too!

2 Weeks Away: Oscar's 1st Plane Ride

After Milwaukee, it was off to Boston. Which means...

Oscar is now an official airplane officianado. He has always appreciated them from afar (as they frequently fly over our house), but now he has gotten to EXPERIENCE the magic of air travel. And he liked it! He especially liked landing, in which he let out a series of huge giggles that made all the other passangers around us chuckle along.

Good people watching at an airport.

"You mean...we're actually going IN one?!?!"

Watching the baggage being loaded from the inside.

We survived!

At Tommy & Katie's hous in Milford, MA. More to come!

2 Weeks Away: Oscar's Big Adventure

So, a little backstory for this video: This contraption was in a lighting store that also had free popcorn (bonus!), life-size cutouts of Marilyn Monroe, and deer-shaped lamps. Good times. But, Oscar experienced his first "roller coaster" there so it will be remembered.

2 Weeks Away: Milwaukee

The next leg of our journey took Oscar and I to Milwaukee where we still lived it up: out to dinner for my brother Dave's 4oth B-day (Happy Birthday, old man!)...

...got gelato several times and hung out with cousins (Oscar especially enjoyed giving Malcolm a tour of the sidewalk)...

...had good coffee and good conversation with my good friend, Emily (who, incidentaly, just finished her 2nd Iron Man triatholan and qualified to go to Hawaii!!! She got 4th in her age group and in the top 20 overall. Congrats, Emily!)...

...and hosted a wedding shower and bachelorette party (complete with "party bus") for my dear friend Jenna. Now Mrs. Kroner--congrats!

Phew! Are you tired yet? Well, there's still more to come!
