South Dakota

South Dakota! Oscar and I went for a "last hurrah" trip before Miss Ruby came (ironically, 2 days after we got back!) to visit my grandparents. It was a GREAT trip and a lot of fun spent with people we love. Here are some photos from the weekend.

(Side story: while staying at my grandmother's assisted living apartment, we heard a "beep, beep, beep" only to realize too late that O had been pushing the "emergency assistance" button in the bathroom. By the time we finally figured out what phone number to call and tell them it was a false alarm, the ambulance had arrived and knocked on the door. They were very gracious about it all, but...Sigh. Well, at least it made for a great story!)

Grandpa Richard's famous harmonica in action for a rapt audience.

My favorite photo from the weekend...captures two cute guys and a gorgeous landscape...
At our house, we LOVE a good, messy doughnut!
Oscar has learned how to take photos on the digital camera. Here is his latest gallery showing:

R's First Official "Photo Shoot"

Grandma is here to help out for the week (thank you, Mom!!!), and we just had to take advantage of cute pink outfits and a charged camera battery! Here's some of the results.

Wrinkly knees!

Even preemie outfits swim on her...not for long, though!

Ruby's Home!

Ruby came home almost a week ago now. We were THRILLED when the doc gave the "go-ahead" (two days earlier than we expected!). We were greeted by a brother who was THRILLED to have his baby sister home.

Oscar often goes to "check" on "Baby Ruby"...and we have taught the fine art of the tiptoe to and from her bassinet. It has been beyond cozy and sweet.

This photo is not staged...we're just adoring our little girl together.

Cousins! Costumes! Fiddle Contest! Petting Zoo! Sunshine! Good Eats!

All the makings for a wonderful day at the Laura Ingalls Wilder fest in Pepin, WI. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
